Do not use Aluminim!!!!!! (or any other reactive metal)

If you use Aluminum it will react with your "Ethanol" (moonshine) and will poison you if you try to drink it!  For my fist still I went to walmart and bought a ceramic coated black pot for $12 and used that.  I had to make a few very simple modifacations.  I drilled a small hole in the lid that fit my copper tube, and I used those black aligator paper clip clips  to keep the lid closed. (i posted the address to a photo of the clips I am talking about down below) I used a simple flour water mixture as a seal and that was that.

Let me say again, do not use any Aluminum parts if your planning on consuming anything from your still!!

You shouldn't have any aluminum material in the vapor path, vaporized solvents will react with this type of metal. It's a big NO to aluminum boiler (pressure cooker). Copper and brass pipes/fittings are perfectly safe for making homemade moonshine. Copper has various desirable properties including the ability to eliminate unpleasant substances originally created from the fermentation of the mash.
